Tev Scale Weak Interactions: Inclusive vs. Exclusive Observables

چکیده

Hard processes at the TeV scale exhibit enhanced (double log) EW corrections, that need resummation in view of the high level of precision of Next Linear Colliders. The fact that the weak sector is spontaneously broken causes some peculiarities with respect to unbroken theories like QCD. For observables that are exclusive with respect to W,Z emission, some peculiar technical problems have yet to be solved. Surprisingly, double logarithmic enhancements are present even for inclusive observables like e+e− → hadrons, leading to violation of the Bloch-Nordsieck theorem. The last effect is particularly important, producing weak effects that in some cases compete in magnitude with the strong ones.

Hard processes at the TeV scale exhibit enhanced (double log) EW corrections even for inclusive observables, leading to violation of the Bloch-Nordsieck theorem. This effect, previously related to the non abelian nature of free EW charges in the initial state (ee, ep, pp ...), is here investigated for fermion initiated hard processes and to all orders in EW couplings. We find that the effect is...

Enhanced Electroweak Corrections to Inclusive Boson Fusion Processes at the TeV Scale ∗

Electroweak radiative corrections with double-log enhancements occur in inclusive observables at the TeV scale because of a lack of compensation of virtual corrections with real emission due to the nonabelian (weak isospin) charges of the accelerator beams. Here we evaluate such Bloch-Nordsieck violating corrections in the case of initial longitudinal bosons, which is experimentally provided by...

Bound on V + A admixture in the b → c current from inclusive vs . exclusive semileptonic decays of B mesons

Bound on V + A admixture in the b → c current from inclusive vs. exclusive semileptonic decays of B mesons. Abstract An admixture of a right-handed b → c current in the semileptonic weak decays of the B mesons would give a significantly different contribution to the inclusive rate of the decays B → l ν X c as compared to the exclusive decay B → D * l ν at zero recoil. Thus a difference in the v...

Constraints on the SU(3) Electroweak Model

We consider a recent proposal by Dimopoulos and Kaplan to embed the electroweak SU(2)L × U(1)Y into a larger group SU(3)W × SU(2) × U(1) at a scale above a TeV. This idea is motivated by the prediction for the weak mixing angle sin θW = 1/4, which naturally appears in these models so long as the gauge couplings of the high energy SU(2) and U(1) groups are moderately large. The extended gauge dy...

On BLM scale fixing in exclusive processes

The investigation of the quark-gluon dynamics through perturbative calculations is most useful to extract from experimentally measurable observables quantities such as parton distributions, generalized parton distributions (GPDs) and (generalized) distribution amplitudes (GDAs, DAs). Factorization theorems allow to calculate scattering amplitudes in a perturbative way, provided a renormalizatio...
